When a Certified item is sold outside The Realest, the chain of custody is broken. The Realest is the only party that can verify an item is the exact item we certified, and once it leaves our possession, we can no longer confirm its identity, condition, or history.
For that reason, The Realest cannot vouch for items represented as Certified on other sites or in private sales. Between the time an item leaves our custody and any later resale, it may have been altered, damaged, or swapped for another item entirely. A third-party listing that references our certification is not backed by The Realest.
An item's active Certified status and any associated guarantee lapse when it is sold outside The Realest without being returned for re-certification. The certification record remains part of the item's history, but the item must come back to us to be verified and sold as Certified again.
